Inovonics INOmini 703 RDS Encoder
The Inovonics 703 is our "Mini Encoder" and was the first in our INOmini product line at a low cost. This is the fast and economical way for an RDS/RBDS presence, with easy USB programming using the supplied Windows© software. Your station data goes into non-volatile memory, and the unit can then be reinstalled on the transmitter site. The 703 will identify your station by format, display your station's "street name" and continuously broadcast promotions or advertisements to your listeners. An optional rack mount kit can accommodate up to three INOMI style products.

Technical specifications:
Supported RDS applications
PS (Program Service Name) At the user's choice, the PS entry can be an 8-character static informal station ID (a 'street name' such as LIVE 105), or a promotional or advertising message for a scrolling station of up to 128 characters. PS voices are displayed on the faceplate of every RDS radio and on most cell phones and MP3 players with built-in FM radio. The display mode and scroll speed of PS messages are user programmable.
PI (Program Identification) Each RDS station is identified by a unique numeric code, its "digital address". The North American callsigns 'K', 'W' and 'C' are automatically converted to the correct PI code by the 703 software. In other countries the PI code is assigned by the local Broadcasting Authority and is entered numerically.
AF (Alternative Frequencies) Enter up to 25 frequencies of retransmission 'translators' or other sources of the same program as the main channel. This helps RDS radios search for the best signal source for a particular listening location.
RT (RadioText) This 64-character block of plain text is separate and in addition to the scrolling PS message. Generally used for additional station information, such as a Web address or phone number, this text can be accessed with the INFO or TEXT button on some radios.
M/S (Music/Speech Switch) A service flag that identifies the broadcast as a mixed music program or a voice-only station (news/talk).
DI (Decoder Information) Part of the RDS protocol that identifies transmission as stereo.
MPX sample input
An unbalanced, high-impedance-bridging (BNC) input that requires a composite sample/MPX or a 19kHz synchronization signal from the stereo generator at a level between 0.5V and 5.0V p-p. The 703 does not incorporate an internal time base to support monophonic transmission.
RDS output
An unbalanced source at 75 ohm (BNC); the output level is adjustable between zero and 3V p-p.
Programming port
A Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface for direct connection to the USB port of any PC; the interconnection cable is supplied. The self-guided programming software is supplied on CD-ROM or can be downloaded from the Inovonics website, and can run on any PC running Windows© or higher.
Power Requirements
105-130VAC and 210-260VAC; 50/60Hz; 20W.
